I know I want to major in Business (accounting) in college and I live in New Jersey. I was wondering what good, reasonably priced schools there are in New Jersey for accounting. I obviously looked at Rutgers and I was leaning more for Montclair. I live in central Jersey and I'm going to have to commute so something near somerset county would also help. I have around an 1800 SAT score and 3.2 with tons of community service so consider that when suggesting schools because schools like TCNJ are out of the question.

I'm sorry to tell you but there really aren't alot of choices in New Jersey other then Rutgers and I hear lousy things about the area where it's located. Anyplace but Rutgers is my suggestion. Go out of state if you possibly can- even to a state school in PA.

What are some good college/universities to attend for online accounting schools

Have you ever taken an online class? I am currently finishing high school online and I think it can be tougher than regular classes. It's good for high school level work, but I would never do it for college. I suggest you try to take one class from a school and see how you like it. Regardless, I'm sure you could transfer if you didn't like it. I tried to look up accredited accounting degrees online and found this: http://degrees.classesusa.com/browse/?campusType=online&browseType=7&sourceid=afledud317780&subid=317780&affssid=MTIzMDUMjEwNw60840641pGLcoGdHubX. Before you enroll do some research on the school to make sure is 100% accredited! Good luck!

I researched a few universities on 4 different web sites. One site is college reviews. I am either going into accounting, education or social work. Which university is the best among University of West Georgia, Kennesaw State University and Jacksonville State University in Alabama. UWG and Kennesaw are more selective and do not accept GED. Am I more likely to find a job if I go to a more selective school. I bet most employers don't look at which school you went to. I bet they look at GPA and check with the school to see if you have a degree in the field that you are applying for.

reputation of school does make a difference (even though some will say it doesn't – usually those from less prestigious schools – never heard anyone from Harvard or Yale say this. Of the schools you mention University of Georgia is probably the best. Now certainly if you have a 4.0 from one and a 3.0 from the other the name won't make a difference. Bu you better believe that if you have a 3.8 from Georgia and someone else has a 3.8 from one of the others…you will be looked at a bit more seriously all other things being equal. DA

Aside from a 4 year college or university because i dont want to have to take a bunch of gen ed credits that dont pertain to what i want to do. Are their any special accounting schools or something that are only 1 or 2 year programs?

No; to be an Accountant you need all those general education classes. If you want to be a Book Keeper, there are other ways, via tech schools. They make a great deal less money. My wife's niece was a book keeper because she could not afford a college education, then after having kids went back to school for an Accounting degree and is now a CPA, Her salary is several times what it was as an experienced book keeper.
