Im thinking about attending it online pretty soon and i just want to know?
Thank you

U of P isn't considered to be especially strong, academically. But that may be okay. The real problem is that it's such a polarizing school. While with some other schools that have similar academics, employers will just kind of shrug, U of P elicits strong feelings with some employers. And those feelings aren't usually positive.

While some employers won't care where you went to school, there are quite a few employers who strongly dislike U of P enough that they literally refuse to hire its graduates. I've worked for some of those companies. I'm not sure the school deserves such venom, but there you go. And because it elicits such strong feelings, I feel I must warn you.

In general, if you want to do an online degree, more employers will accept that degree if you get it from a reputable brick and mortar university – or at least from a school that isn't famous for being either online or for-profit. So if you really need to do this online, then check your local community colleges and state universities to see if they offer an accounting degree online or via distance. A lot of them do, and this is a reputable and often far cheaper option than going to a place like U of P. If they don't, then these reputable schools do, or at least have something related: UMass Amherst, U Maryland, Penn State U, Tiffin University, Northeastern, Boston University, U Nebraska, Iowa State, Florida Tech, Saint Leo University, Western Governor's University, University of Toledo, and Southern New Hampshire University.

Hi everyone, I’m going to be a ninth grader this year and I can’t choose between two electives. I’m either going to take introduction to marketing or accounting. I really have no idea which one to take, so if you guys could give me your opinions on what to choose that would be great. thank you so much!

Accounting. Basic accounting should be a requirement; it’s more relevant to every day life than algebra, geometry and higher level math. Accounting will always hold you in good stead; even if you don’t pursue a job in that area, the skills and concepts are important to any business as well as personal finance. Good luck!

i really want to attend The University Of Pennsylvania, and major in business, but i am not sure what i have to do to get in….my marks are alright but my sat's are a little low so i am retaking them and also taking the act's…i run xc, and play rugby, and i am currently in the process of finding a place to learn Chinese, and somewhere to volunteer, anyone know what else i should do to get into this college?
i also am in FBLA very high chance i will become president in it, and will try to join DECA, also i just came back from 2 business camps and got 1,000 scholarship from one and won a laptop on the other.
i took accounting 1 already and will be taking accounting 2 when i go back to school.. if there are enough kids int he course

Well, you are active in sports, becoming proficient in foreign languages, volunteer, seem to have good grades but are retaking the SAT's which is common. Honestly, I would suggest taking Accounting 1 and maybe get involved with FBLA. Maybe go to some competitions and try to get an award or two.
Otherwise, you seem to be doing fine.

ok so im thinking about going to school for accounting but i want to know is schooling for accounting hard? also was it hard to find a job and do you like your job? and what is your salary? i want to make sure i can support my family.. i have one son who is 7 weeks old..so is accounting something good to go for?

The accounting curriculum is the most demanding in business school. Therefore it attracts only the best students. Other's simply don't survive in the more advanced classes. If you can't earn B or better grades in accounting, stay out of it because you will not be a desirable candidate when you graduate.

On the other hand if you apply yourself and do well, accounting pays better than other fields. Accounting graduates are in great demand and they command the highest salary offers. Advancement is fast and the work can be exciting.
